In religious circles there are terms and terminology that are used, and are hard to understand by those that are not so connected. This often confuses and misleads those not associated with the circles. I myself being so connected am confused and bewildered by such terms and terminology often. These things should not be so. One of these terminologies is how to Heaven. It depends upon what denomination you inquire of as to how you get there. The terms for this also differ as much as the ways to achieve this do. Again this should not be so. I would like to explain to you how you may get to Heaven. These are not merely my beliefs or those of the denomination I am a member of but what God says in His Word, the Bible. The terms born again, saved, salvation, converted, everlasting life, Christian, and others are all used to describe someone who is supposed to be going to Heaven. Simply applying these terms to yourself will not get you to Heaven. As humans we were created in the image of God. Genesis 1:27 says "so God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." This does not mean that God looks like humans. John 4:24 tells us that "God is a spirit.." In the most basic and simplest explanation this verse means we were created like God in the sense we are alive and will live eternally. God created us to live forever. Even after our bodies no longer live on this earth we will live eternally somewhere. When Adam and Eve committed the most famous sin ever recorded it plunged man as a whole into death through sin. Romans 5:12 tells us "Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:. "Because of the sin of Adam and Eve all mankind died spiritually, so in essence we are guilty by association. Since we are dead spiritually, and also guilty of sin, there had to be a way made in order for us to get to Heaven. Within our own efforts or abilities we could never accomplish this task, so God did it for us. God sent his Son Jesus to die for our sins and rise again in order to make a way for us to get to Heaven. This great act of love was God's part in securing a way to Heaven for us. We also have a part to do in order to get to Heaven. HERE is where many differ in what we need to do to get to Heaven. Again this is most unfortunate and should not be so. God's word is very clear and simple in this area of our responsibility to get to Heaven. First we must see our own inability to accomplish this task. Romans 3:23 tells us "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Because we have sinned, we are guilty and so the term sinner applies to us. As a sinner we commit sins and the payment for sin, or wages as the Bible calls it, is death: in the sense that we can never enter Heaven where Christ is, who is life. John 14:6 and Romans 6:23 tell us of these wages and how we can have life "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." When we commit a sin no matter how small it may seem we earn the wage of death. This verse also tells of a gift of God which is eternal life. Once again the Bible, God's word, tells us how we can have this gift and go to heaven with Him. In Romans 10:9-13 God says "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." The way to Heaven is very simple. First you must realize you are a sinner and cannot get to Heaven on your own ability. Second you must desire to be forgiven by God for being a sinner. Third you must ask God to forgive you. There is no certain prayer you have to pray or terminology you need to use. When I asked God to forgive me I only said three words "Lord, Save Me," that was it. God did the rest. The asking for forgiveness is not the forming of words with the mouth but the forming of remorse first and then the forming of faith in the heart. You are created to live eternally. Even after you cease to exist on this earth you will continue to live. This truth exists whether it is believed or not, it does not change. It is up to you where you will continue to live for eternity... HEAVEN or HELL |
